AirPods Pro still connected to another iCloud despite forgetting it

I was gifted AirPods Pro from a family member (used) and I forgot device from their bluetooth settings and FindMy. When I pair to my device I still get the notification that says “You are connecting to an item that’s paired to someone else’s Apple Account. [not my email]”.

We’ve logged into their iCloud — that device isn’t there. It also says “Not your AirPods Pro” when I open the case near their devices.

How do I paid the AirPods Pro to my iCloud account?
