Dictation disabled intermittently with the latest updates to iPadOS, and macOS.
Why has Apple removed or destabilized dictation, an essential accessibility feature, on high end devices after recent software updates?
Why is dictation now intermittently unavailable on my Mac Studio, a $17,000 workstation, and my brand new iPad, when it worked reliably before recent iPadOS and macOS updates?
Why does dictation now fail most often inside the exact applications where extended dictation is required, including professional and assistive workflows, while still occasionally appearing in trivial text fields?
Is Apple aware that dictation is not a convenience feature but a core accessibility accommodation relied on by users with ADHD, motor impairments, neurological conditions, and other disabilities protected under the ADA?
How does Apple reconcile breaking or degrading dictation through software updates with its legal obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508 principles, especially when users did not consent to the removal of a critical accommodation?
Is this behavior an unintentional regression caused by software changes, or is Apple deliberately prioritizing UI redesigns and app level controls over accessibility stability?
If this is a known bug, why has there been no clear communication, acknowledgement, or remediation timeline provided to users who now cannot reliably use their devices for work?
If this is not a bug, how does Apple justify silently altering or removing an accessibility feature that many users depend on to function professionally and independently?
At what point does repeatedly shipping updates that break accessibility features become an ADA compliance issue rather than a technical inconvenience?
I am asking Apple to explain why an accessibility feature that previously worked is now unreliable on premium hardware, and what Apple is doing immediately to restore consistent dictation functionality across macOS and iPadOS.
This is not ironic. From the user side, it feels either negligent or deliberately cruel.
