iPhone 17 Pro wireless data & backups to Mac

Will soon upgrade to an iPhone 17Pro from a 14Pro. From the very first model to the 14, I've always charged my phone via a cable connected to an iMac and in so doing am not only able to keep the phone charged but also transfer data and run backups with ease. Moving to the 17Pro however I realise I'll have to also change to a USB-C and therefore get a new phone stand as the USB-C won't work with the old 12South stand I've had for years.

I'd be inclined to go for a MagSafe stand but that would mean I'm not connecting my phone directly to my iMac so need some advice as to how to deal with data transfer and backups to my Mac (prefer it to iCloud). Is there a way to use something like Bluetooth to detect when the phone is close to the iMac and then have it automatically start backups and deal with data transfers?
