Apple Music manual sync to iPhone 14 Pro missing songs

Hi,

I am writing to ask for assistance with an issue I am experiencing with Apple Music manual syncing.

I use Apple Music on my MacBook as my main music library, where I store and listen to all of my music. Most of my collection was ripped from vinyl records and CDs. I manually sync this library to my iPhone.

I recently upgraded my iPhone from a 13 Pro to a 14 Pro, and since then the manual sync process has started behaving unexpectedly. When I initiate a manual sync, it begins and finishes very quickly (in about one minute). I then need to click “Sync” again, after which the process continues and appears to complete normally.

Despite this, I have now noticed that approximately 5–10% of my songs were not transferred to the iPhone. I have tried to identify a common pattern among the missing tracks (file type, metadata, source, etc.), but I have not been able to find any consistent factor.

Could you please advise on what might be causing this issue and how it can be resolved?

Thank you for your assistance.

Kind regards,

Nuno Melo

Hi,

I use Apple Music on my MacBook as my main music library, where I store and listen to all of my music (around 65,000 tracks). Most of my collection was ripped from vinyl records and CDs (more than 95%). I manually sync this library to my iPhone.

Hi again,

I just tried the suggested steps of selecting no tracks, syncing, and then syncing again with all tracks selected. This did not work on my first attempt, but it did work the second time, and all tracks now seem to have been synced properly.

However, I use an AppleScript called “Selected tags to lyrics” to add the year, comments, and other metadata to the lyrics field, and most of my tracks have lyrics stored on the Mac. All of these lyrics are still present on the Mac, but none of them were transferred to the iPhone.

Could you please advise on why the lyrics are not syncing and how this can be resolved?

(Cannot add lyrics again on all songs because I have more than 65,000 tracks)

Kind regards,

Nuno Melo
