Messenger threads not scrolling up enough to read last line

On iPad Pro 13” M4 iOS26.2 when using Messenger, the text entry bubble is obscuring the last line of the last message in the thread, either that or the scrolling is not allowing the message thread to fully scroll up so as to reveal that bottom line of the last message. When scrolling up, the thread does move up to reveal it but simply falls back down when you let go.

Reached out to Apple and to Meta - both saying contact the other!!

Can anyone help?

Tried every combination of the normal raft of highly generalised ‘advice’, updates (iOS and Messenger are both fully up-to-date), deleting-reinstalling, offloading-reinstalling, force quitting-restarting, settings, settings, settings, and more settings - nothing works so far. Arrrrggg

iPad Pro, iPadOS 26

Thanks - this is the update we’ve been asking for, released 2 days ago

If you read my previous I had checked updates (and yes I know how) and we were then on 544.0.0, now - as a result of us and many others reporting the bug (if you read my previous I did mention the shake to report feature) we have now got 545.0.0

Good Work people - we helped that to happen!

I found the answer to Facebook Messenger hiding last bubble in a conversation. Mine is back to working normal.

As Meta suggested, I went to the Apple Store App and chose Messenger. I pressed on the word Messenger (no need to open the app) in the Apple Store App and “update” popped up. I clicked on that and now Messenger once again works.

I remember back in the day setting all my apps at the store app to automatically update. Over a lot of years, I’ve never had to manually update until iOS 26 came out. I did the same thing for Facebook and “update” popped up.

I hope this helps.

Someone here, and I can’t find the thread now, said that when you’re on the Messenger app, vigorously shake the iPad and a window will pop up from Meta asking for you to write out the problem. Who knew? So, I wrote the complaint about messenger and I also stated that more people are having the same problem.

Whether that resolves anything is remained to be seen. I’m skeptical. Here is a screenshot.

Yeah I’ve tried every suggestion I can find anywhere, Google, Google AI, Reddit, Apple discussions, Meta’s AI, my mum,

Do the shake thing and report it to Meta

Open messenger on the affected device and just shake it. Should open their bug report feature. It was a new one for me - when Meta’s AI suggested that I thought it was joking! Or malfunctioning!!

iPhone doesn’t seem to be affected (16 isn’t affected anyway) but no amount of iPad settings jiggling has sorted it out. Apple are saying what LotusPilot has said above - it’s not their problem, it’s Meta’s. That said, strangely some bugs I’ve encountered on iOS devices have miraculously disappeared with a minor iOS update - even after flat denial of ownership by Apple. TBF tho, Apple are very good at engaging every time I reach out to them, and escalate upwards in their tech hierarchy often when a simple fix isn’t available. So it appears that what we’re waiting for is a Meta Messenger update and I have only ‘chatted’ with their AI (surprisingly good) and done the ‘shake device while in Messenger to report a bug’ thing…..

Do you mean for a fix, or just forget Messenger??
If the latter, then I’ve got to convince the rest of my world to jump on the same alternative app…..not happening is it…

The only person that natters here is you.

You need to decide if the value you get from Facebook is worth the value that Facebook extracts from you.

if you do decide you want to continue to use Facebook apps and services, then you get to deal with all of what that means. Including the ongoing problems with their apps and services.
