How to turn off liquid glass after iOS 26.2 update

How do I turn off liquid glass? My phone updated to iOS 26.2 and I hate this so much. I turned on the reduce transparency and motion, but the whole update has changed so much it's making me nauseous most of the time. I'm actually considering switching to android because of how awful this update has been and without an option to go back.

Unfortunately it cannot be turned off. I’ve tried every suggestion out there and even called Apple. Nothing helped and at this point I’m left with one option….. switching to a different brand.

It really doesn't matter to anyone here if you feel another brand better meets your needs. You should buy what you want. But before you leap, look. Android, the most widely sold other brand is rolling out Material Design 3 right now and it incorporates many of the same design elements contained in Liquid Glass. You can visit Android forums, where Android users are saying it's to switch to iPhone. You simply can't make everyone happy.

Personally, I really like Liquid Glass. But I wrote the above link to help people who may not be as enamored with it as me.

Please check the link below. It offers more tips on how to minimize the Liquid Glass effect.

I also found this to be very helpful:

Reduce Liquid Glass Effect: Fortunately, you can adjust this effect whenever you want. It should be turned on by default as soon as you install iOS 26, but you can tweak how transparent your iPhone looks. Here's how:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Scroll down and go to Accessibility.
  • Tap on Display & Text Size.
  • Turn on Reduce Transparency

You'll instantly notice that areas like the Control Center don't have a transparent effect anymore, letting you experience iOS 26 without any distractions.

Hello~ Please read the user tip that is most excellently written and posted by *lobsterghost1* Z’s that is best.

Here is these forums we hear lots of folks talk about switching to Androids. I always fully encourage users to buy what suits them best. But cutting off one’s nose to spite your face is not logical. A family member of mine had a security issue twice last week with their Android and guess who had to assist them?? Me…a lifelong iPhone user.

*Smilin-Brian* points out correctly that owners of Androids are often left to somehow “figure” it out on their own.

According to Apple:

After a software update is installed for iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS, it cannot be downgraded to the previous version.

What you can do about this:

Open Settings ➢ Accessibility ➢ Display & Text Size, then toggle Reduce Transparency = on.

Also in Settings ➢ Accessibility ➢ Motion, then toggle Reduce Motion = on.

Also in Settings ➢ Display & Brightness ➢ Liquid Glass ➢ Tinted.

In addition, you can provide ⇢ Product Feedback.

If enough requests are made, your feedback might help with future development, like a toggle in the settings.

Good luck! 👋🏼😉

Change is difficult to adapt to because it disrupts our comfort zones, introduces uncertainty and fear of the unknown, challenges our sense of identity, and involves letting go of the familiar. However, it's important to recognize that change is an inevitable part of life, and learning to adapt and embrace it is crucial for personal growth and development. With time, patience, and a willingness to explore new possibilities, we can navigate the difficulties of change and find ways to thrive in new circumstances.

I'm generally a pretty flexible individual, however the entire experience of my phone and transition changes actually make me nauseous. I'm not against taking Gravol, I just didn't think I would need to using my phone. Again, I'm okay adapting, but when the alleged accessibility options don't negate my issues, I feel that's a problem.

Well, good luck with that as it has been reported that the competition is copying Liquid Glass.

↑ There you go!

You better be sure that the competition offers free online technical support before doing something you might regret.

Remember, there is no "Android store" that I’m aware of when something goes wrong. If it breaks, you’re on your own.

Is that what you want?

All the best! 👋🏼😉
