Map links open in Safari before Google Maps

Map links used to always open in Google Maps for me, but now they open in Safari with a message asking 'Open this page in Google Maps?' How can I skip this safari step so that when I tap on a map link, it automatically opens in Google Maps?

How stop safari from using Google Maps as default I have tried all suggestions, settings, etc. I removed Google Map app from IPhone. Every time I search for a store on Safari, it will only provide directions using Google Maps, and wants me to download Google maps app. I want to use Apple Maps or Waze. My Gmail Settings have Apple Maps as default. Can anyone help?

Have you tried deleting Google Maps and then downloading a fresh copy from the Apple App Store?

I’ve never seen that, but it might be a new security feature to prevent toxic links received in messages, texts or web pages from accessing Google Maps without permission.
