iPad swipe gestures not working

Since I installed 26.2 on a 2nd generation iPad Pro the swipe gestures have become buggy, the apps won’t close, scrolling is erratic, and I am unable to restart as the screen won’t recognise my swipe on the button. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance for your help.
