iPad Air 4 intermittently loses sound after iOS 26.2 update.

Since the IOS 26.2, I am experienced something else other than the messenger scrolling screen. And that is every once in a while, I lose sound. When that happens, I shut off my iPad and restart it. Then the sound comes back. This has happened about four times now since the update on my iPad Air four. Anyone else?

Thank you!

If your iPad is not operating as expected, try a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated or post-update software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:

Otherwise, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad - and you can explore your available options:

Trust Pilot… thank you very much for your in-depth offerings. However, my iPad Air four is different than any of your diagrams. The up and down volume buttons are on the top on the left-hand side. The third button will only make my screen go dark and then if I hold it, it brings up the Siri logo.

I go to Settings general and scroll down to the bottom to shut off. Then I will press the Siri button until the logo appears. So much different than my old iPad. I don’t have a home button, but I use the virtual one that floats around.

At any rate, each time I lose the sound shutting it off and bringing it back up will fix the problem…… until the next time. The sound stopping a few and far between. I just never had this happen until the update of 26.2. My iPad has been wonderful up until now so I believe the problem is related to the update.

I live way out in the sticks and there is no Apple Store remotely close. I do believe that it would probably resolve itself, but I was really curious to see if anybody else is having this problem.

Thank you very much!
