How to add a custom keyboard shortcut using the 'Fn ⌘' key in System Preferences?

Hello, how can i set up keybaord shortcut using 🌐︎

In system preferences -> keyboard shortcut . There is already by default keybaord shortcut like "🌐︎J" for example to put a windows in full screen, half of the screen etc

But when i double click to Try to add a shortcut myself like "🌐︎N "

It is impossible to do so, and the 🌐︎ key is never registered when i personnalised the hotkey

Is there a solution without using third party app, it is such a weird choice to have existing shortcut with 🌐︎ and not others or personnalized

I 'm using Sequoia 15.7 and a Mac M1

Hi,

Following method could help your question.

To add a custom keyboard shortcut using the Fn (Globe) + ⌘ (Command) keys, navigate to System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > App Shortcuts, click the + button, select an app, enter the exact menu title, and press Fn + ⌘ + [Key] to record the combo.

Steps to Create a Custom Fn + ⌘ Shortcut:

  1. Open System Settings: Navigate to the Apple menu and choose System Settings, then select Keyboard in the sidebar.
  2. Access Shortcuts: Click on Keyboard Shortcuts.
  3. App Shortcuts: Select App Shortcuts on the left menu.
  4. Add New Shortcut: Click the + button to add a new shortcut.
  5. Configure:
    • Application: Choose a specific app or "All Applications".
    • Menu Title: Type the exact name of the menu command (e.g., "Export as PDF...").
    • Keyboard Shortcut: Click the field and hold down the Fn (or Globe) key, Command (⌘), and your desired letter/number.
  1. Done: Click Done.
