iPhone 14 Pro Max unresponsive to touch after iOS 26 update.

A while ago the Phone asked about the iOS26 update, it's subjective but I don't like the design so I chose iOS18, then some week ago it started bugging me about iOS26 and I kept declining it.

Unfortunately, either through a simple mistake by me or forced by Apple, the Update started today.

And after the Update, the phone no longer registers touch inputs.

I tried:

  • Forced restart with the vol up/down, power button combo. At least 20 times or more.
  • Removed screen protection
  • Fully charged it
  • Forced Update via DFU mode with MacBook
  • Complete Reset via DFU

Still not responsive to touch. I've read many things about it, but no real solutions, 99% of the articles regarding this issue are AI written slop copied from Reddit.

I'm wondering how in the world can a software update break hardware? Is it the notorious hardware signature?

Just for clarification, I never changed the screen or anything on the Phone, it's with its original hardware, no OEM parts.

Anyway, I already know there is no solution or fix, but an answer from Apple would decide if I buy an iPhone or competitor Phone tomorrow.

Many times when installing an upgrade for the first time updates to the firmware are included and done before the iOS software is installed. It’s possible the firmware installation went wrong. Generally, that’s unrecoverable and certain hardware must be replaced to restore full functionality.

You need to have Apple perform diagnostics on your iPhone. It can be done in person at an Apple Retail Store or at an Apple Authorized Service Provider. You can also contact Apple Support and request remote diagnostics.
