Tjhat article is lacking this more current info if you have a Window PC. Newer versions of Windows use a new app to mange Apple devices. See:

If it then says cannot verify, there is a known problem with the update which will be fixed in the next day or three.

I did say uninstall, not disable. Some of these free VPNs are really evil.

Based on what I read in other threads, it sounds like Apple may have temporarily pulled some of the updates it released the other day. Presumably someone ran into problems, and updates will be available again once those are resolved.

Especially since this round of updates seems to have been concerned with providing a security certificate that will let iMessages and FaceTime keep working after January 2027.

Mine says “Software Update Failed. An error occured downloading iOS15.8.6” Everything with the phone is ok - extra 14GB storage, no VPN, fast WiFi connection, even tried Mobile Data to download the software but all failed. I havent use a computer yet because I dont own one (macOS or non-Apple computers). Hopefully I can download without using a computer.
