Quick Time Recording functions...Missing ?

Hello, I'm trying to open QuickTime Player to record. When I click on the Icon It opens Finder and wants me to provide a file to play. How do I access the record function ?

Quicktime - Cannot stop or save a recording I just tried to make a screen recording using QT. The player appears on screen and using the File menu, I choose new screen recording and then move the mouse onto the screen I want to record and click.. the player then completely disappears from my screen when the recording starts. The only way to stop the recording is to hit quit from the quicktime menu. This is the first screen recording I have tried to make since updating to Mavericks and it's also the first time I have had this problem. Upon restarting Quicktime my movie shows up so I can save it. Any ideas?

QuickTime player stops recording after software update I have used every single option to try and get the Q Player to not ‘stop recording’ and it is really annoying. I have changed the saving Location to Desktop, to External Drive. All this happened when I updated my Software. I don’t save anything to the Cloud I save on hard disk and also to an external drive. Quick Time Player Issue - Recording done but not able to reach it I recorded something, but the Quick Time Player does not seem to download it. Let me explain. When you open the Quick Time Player, you will see the prompt to screen recordings and the other ones. And on top of that, you can see your recording done lately. Well, I see that the recording was done, but I feel like it has not been downloaded because I can not see it anywhere, it does not allow me to download it or see it, and the screen recording option is in light gray, meaning I can not use it right now. I think somehow it got stuck in the program and is not allowing the recording to fully be available, not sure. Please help. By the way, does the length of the recording has anything to do with this? It was a one-hour 45-minute recording. Thanks

Ty Niel... I finally figured that out. It gave me several options but when I chose any of them it let me adjust a window to record but never gave me any control buttons to start/stop recording. I'll figure it out. I'v never needed to use Quick Time until now so it's new to me. I will look at the Users Guide for Mac .
