Final Cut Pro: Importing files, preserving Finder folders
I seen a thread on here about a similar issue but it was never resolved. I am having issues importing files into final cut. Details below....
So before I even open FCP i go out and take all my footage and record all my audio. I then arrange all these files neatly and orderly within finder. For example I have two folders, one called audio and one called video. Inside the audio folder there's more folders for example one folder may be, cam1 john speech 1, another might be cam1 john speech 37. Then, within the video folder there might a folder called cam1, within that folder there's a file called john speech 1 and john speech 37. You get my point here so that everything matches up and know which audio is for which video. It takes time to do this but i do it as I go so i don't notice the effort and time it takes. Then i eventually get to start the video and open FCP to import my files. But thhere's no way to import them and keep all the individual folders that I've created all nicely within finder. It just imports everything as one.
This brings me upto date with what another thread got up to which said to create events within FCP for the folders and import them into the events which technically act as folders. But the issue is within finder I have many folders. Like for example within the video folder there's another 10 folders one for each camera angle and then with each of those folders I might have another 5 folders. So FCP doesn't recognise these folders it just imports the files under dates instead of creating a separet folder/event.
Surely it's a ridiculous thing to have to create all these separte folders/events within FCP that i've already created within finder all nice and neat. FCP as a program is such a powerful program yet it can't recognise a folder and create one with in its own browser window? This just doesn't make sense and if this is the case this could easily be rectified byut the FCP team.
If someone could help this would save A LOT of time which has now been wasted in creating and arranging my finder folders as I have. I'm sure I'm not the only person who's this organised?
