T-Mobile authorized user not appearing for iPhone pickup

I’m an authorized user on my family’s T-Mobile plan and have been for over 5 years. I’m trying to upgrade my iPhone through the Apple Store because Apple is offering a $450 trade-in vs. $320 directly through T-Mobile. I plan to finance the remaining balance through T-Mobile.

Here’s the issue:

When I go through Apple’s checkout (online, in the Apple Store app, or in person), I can successfully authenticate the T-Mobile account. But when it gets to:

“Who can pick up the T-Mobile iPhone?”

Only the primary account holder’s name appears. My name does NOT appear, even though I’m an authorized user.

Apple store employees told me that authorized users should appear as pickup options.

I called T-Mobile with the primary account holder on the line, and they confirmed:

  • I am listed as an authorized user
  • Technical support added me as authorized under another internal system as well

Despite this, my name still does not show up in Apple’s pickup list.

At this point I’m trying to figure out:

  • Is this a known Apple ↔ T-Mobile system sync issue?
  • Do I need a specific role like Account Manager, Authorized Purchaser, or Retail Pickup Authorized instead of just “authorized user”?

  • Has anyone had success fixing this, and if so, what exact steps worked?

The only workaround so far seems to be having the primary account holder go in person and pick up the phone, which I’m trying to avoid.

Any advice or shared experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks!
