We are all Apple users, like yourself, in the community, so no-one here has access to your accounts and details.
It's not clear who has the money you want refunded; seems likely to be SurfShark?.

Re: Subsequent correspondence, they have told me to request a refund from iTunes.
It is unlikely iTunes would have your money. They would have passed it on for you, just like a bank would do..
