Mac Mini M4: Samsung monitor suddenly black, not detected

I have a Mac Mini M4.

It was connected to a Samsung monitor for the last year with zero issues.

It has been connected directly from the Mac Mini to the monitor via HDMI cable. (4K@60/18Gbps cable)

This is the monitor information:

Model: S32B304NWN

Model Code: LS32B304NWNXGO

Type No.: S32B304NW

Nothing has changed. Nothing was moved or touched. No new software, just...

Suddenly, The screen went black and it says:

"Choose to mirror or Extend Display from the [][] Menu."

When I go to the display settings in the Mac, the monitor is not shown.

Any ideas???

I have bought a new cable, power cycled the Mac and monitor, tried booting in Safe Mode....

Why would it just suddenly stop working??

That Samsung 32" Display has both HDMI and DisplayPort Inputs.

To troubleshoot the Mac mini and Display.

1) Test a different HDMI Display or TV connected to the Mac mini.

2) Test that Samsung 32" Display connected to a different computer with HDMI.

3) Get and test a short High Speed 1.4 USB-C to DisplayPort cable between the Mac mini and Display.

Then if both are working.

Get and test a High Quality short High Speed 8K 2.1 48Gbps HDMI cable.

for example: > https://www.amazon.com/8K-HDMI-Cable-Highwings-Braided/dp/B08NX5CZTF/ref=sr_1_3?

Or optionally use a short High Speed 1.4 USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

Have you tried booting into Recovery mode?

As previously suggested, if you don't even have a TV with HDMI to test the Mini or a source to test the HDMI on the display, your only alternative is to take the Mini to an Apple Store or AASP to have the Mini looked at to at least determine if the Mini is faulty.

Given the small size of the Mini, can you take it to a friend to hook up to a display or TV? Easier than hauling around the display.

The last thing, get a USB-C to HDMI adapter/cable. You can then check the display HDMI port with both the Mini and the MacBook Air to verify display operation.

Why would the HDMI simply stop working?

Without proper testing, there is no way of knowing if the Mac mini's HDMI port or if the Samsung display is bad.

A year old Mac Mini should not have its HDMI port stop working.

True, but if you are unable to properly test the Mac mini and Display...?

Then the next step is to schedule an appointment at your local Apple Store or AASP.

Thanks!

Yes, I can buy a USBC to Displayport cable if needed. But was trying to use the HDMI as I had been for many months.

Swapped cables to new hispeed HDMI cable = same result.

I dont have another HDMI device to test with.

Only other computer I have is a Macbook air = no HDMI.
