Apple Watch Siri can't find home; contacts show downtime contact instead of actually one.

There are some weird things happening with my Apple ID/contacts. I was asking Siri to route me home on my new apple watch and it said there wasn't one even though earlier I had in fact added a address for my contact but when I went onto my contact it had shown the downtime contact instead of my actual one. When I clicked the downtime contact to edit it, it went to my contact so I couldn't actually edit the downtime one even with the code. And on my Mac when I click contacts it says that I have to of them the downtime contact which isn't mine shows up as mine with the one that is actually mine.

To fix the Apple Watch / Siri home address issue, start by turning off Screen Time (Settings > Screen Time > Turn Off Screen Time) to eliminate the rogue "downtime contact," restart both your iPhone and Apple Watch. Then, confirm your proper contact card is selected under Settings > Siri > My Info. If issues persist, Toggle iCloud Contacts off and on again to force a sync.

Steps to Resolve the Contact / Downtime Conflict:

  • Disable Downtime / Screen Time: Go to your iPhone’s Settings > Screen Time > Turn Off Screen Time. This removes the restriction forcing the "downtime contact" (a ghost contact) to appear in place of your real one.

  • Check "My Info" in Settings: Go to Settings > Siri & Search > My Info and select your correct contact card. This tells Siri which contact is yours.

  • Clean Up Contacts: On your Mac, open the Contacts app, identify the "downtime contact" entry, and delete it if it is not your own. Verify your actual contact card has the correct home address.

  • Restart and Re-sync: Restart both the iPhone and the Apple Watch, as this triggers a fresh sync of your contacts data.

  • Force Re-sync via Watch App: Open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to General > Reset > Reset Sync Data

If these steps fail, try turning off iCloud Contacts, restarting devices, and then turning them back on.

To address the "Siri can't find home" issue specifically:

  • Make sure your contact card has your address listed under "Home".
  • If necessary, remove the home address, restart your phone, and add it back.

I hope this helps.

I would start by deleting your contact. Make sure the deletion syncs across all of your devices. I would recommend that, in the Watch app, go to General>Reset>Reset Sync Data. This often clears out contact syncing issues. Then, add your contact back and make sure it is selected as your info on all of your devices.

If none of that helps, unpair and re-pair the watch.
