iPhone 17 Pro battery health dropping after 114 cycles

I bought the iPhone 17 pro on release date. My battery percentage was fine 100 until it dropped to 99 after 114 charge cycles. It has now dropped to 98 at 164 cycles (50 cycles after reaching 99) is this normal? Do i have a defective phone?!

Completely normal.

On average, the Battery Health will drop about 1% for every 50 Charge Cycles.

So, at 50 cycles, the battery may be at 99%. At 100 cycles, about 98%. At 500 cycles, about 90%

What isnt right with me is how my friend who bought an iPhone 16 pro, a month before i bought my 17 pro, has 100% battery percentage. Hes at right below the 200 cycles.

It is totally normal too. No two batteries age the same way. Maybe his has kept cooler, maybe his started at 105% and yours at 102%, but that does not show up.

Hi, your friend is using different apps, under different conditions and using different charging patterns etc. Like I said in my first post, the aging of batteries is non-linear. Your friend may be steady for a longer period of time and then decrease at a sharper and faster decline. Your battery is aging normally from what you describe. Let’s look at the batteries in 6 months and we’ll have a better idea about projected longevity.
