Stop iPhone messages from appearing on iPad

My messages on my iphone always appear on my ipad? I need to stop that.

If it is imessage, then sign out of it on your ipad.

IF it is SMS/MMS then disable this Forward text messages from your iPhone to other devices - Apple Support
