Please make MacGame Store stop opening when I click on a game

Two totally unrelated questions, so I hope I don't confuse anyone.

  1. In my Launch Agents folder, I have files I am unsure if I need. Can anyone tell me if I need any of these files?
      1. com.adobe.ccxprocess.plist
      2. com.adobe.GC.Invoker-1.0.plist
      3. com.hp.devicemonitor.plist
      4. com.sys.system.plist
      5. com.valvesoftware.steamclean.plist
  2. I was directed to the Launch Agents folder because my MAIN issue is that the MacGame Store app opens every time I launch a game I was forced to purchase through MacGame Store because I could find it no other place.
      1. I went to Login Items and Extensions under System Settings and found it was not there.
      2. I scoured through the MacGame Store app and could find no place where it mentioned anything even slightly connected with the app opening on its on.
      3. Then I was advised to go to Finder and press Shift/Command/G which took me to the folder above, in which I found nothing about MacGame Store, but caused enough curiosity for me to come and ask about the files it does contain.

Of course, I can easily close the MGS app before I play my game, but I sure wish I could make it go away. Can anyone assist? I would be greatly appreciative.

Oh, and I am on a 2024 16" MacBook Pro with M4 processor and am unwillingly running Tahoe 26.2.

Again, many thanks for any assistance. May God be with you all.

I did a search for MacGameStore, and it appears to be a third-party platform for running games. "Mac Game Store" as in a store for games that run on Macs, not as in Apple's App Store, or the Apple Arcade subscription service.

https://www.macgamestore.com

There is a MacGameStore app for the iPhone, and you can install it on Apple Silicon Macs, although there is a note saying "Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS."

My guess is that you cannot stop the MacGameStore app from running if you want to play games purchased from that vendor. This app very likely enforces DRM on your purchases, and might be programmed to run ads to try to get you to buy more stuff.

There is a Support article on that site about disabling desktop ads.

EDIT: I looked at the descriptions of a couple of games on that site, and both said that you needed to have a Steam account to play. That might explain why you have a Steam preferences file (com.valvesoftware.steamclean.plist).

The com.adobe.* files and com.hp.* files seem very unlikely to be connected with any game, or any third-party platform required for launching third-party games.

The naming convention suggests that Adobe software created the com.adobe.* files and that HP software (my guess: a printer driver or printer utility) created the com.hp.* one.

The name of the com.valvesoftware.steamclean.plist file suggests that it is associated with the Steam platform, which might have components that would run any time you played a game purchased from Valve / Steam.

Thank you for that information. As I mentioned at the beginning, I was asking two entirely separate questions on entirely separate issues. I was not concerned the files were related to games. I just wanted to know what those files were and if I need them or I can delete them.

You provided a plethora of information for which I am grateful, particularly for the level of research you did. Thank you very much for that.

However, if there are others who have information regarding this MacGames Store situation, I'd really like to hear from others, as well.

P.S.: I, too, I am a servant to cats! Two precious little jet black brothers called Amos and Andy!
