Mac hinge has a small dent, concerned about future issues

Hi, the right side of my Mac’s hinge has a small metal dent/mark, likely from pressure being applied. The top metal plate on that side appears slightly bruised, while the left side is smooth and normal. I wanted to ask if this is something that can affect the hinge mechanism over time or cause future issues. Please let me know if this is considered normal wear or if it should be inspected. Thank you.

This, to me, indicates the Mac was dropped or bumped and that right edge was slightly deformed. It's cosmetic damage until/unless it interferes with the operation of the hinge. Only time will tell that, but if it isn't a problem now, then it's unlikely to become one unless something else happens.

You can write it off to normal wear and tear as I would or, if you're like some of our friends and it's going to bother you, then take it to Apple for evaluation. Only they can definitively answer your question.

Personally, I wouldn't fret about it at all. But that's me.
