Switch control head tracking won't change app after update

I use a combination voice control and switch control with head tracking (Not the New version of head tracking) to control my iPhone as I have no use of my hands.

This has been working well until I updated my phone version 26.2, I now have a problem in which the switch control cursor can't swipe up from the bottom of an app to close it or open app switcher. I am using the direct touch option with a face gesture which still works everywhere else.

I can swipe down from the top two corners to access the notification centre and control centre, but nothing from the bottom.

The bar appears at the bottom with Siri when I tap or try and use direct touch but the app does not close.

I am on an iPhone 15 pro Max, currently running iOS 26.2.1.

That sounds really impeded my ability to use my phone in public when I can't use my voice.

I have had someone else try and force restart it with and without switch control on

Does anyone have any suggestions or similar problems?

I didn’t change any settings before it stopped working. It was working before the update, the update happened and it no longer worked.

My phone is not jailbroken and unfortunately I don’t have a backup as far as I know as the update happened overnight, unless iCloud has a backup.

In this update they also introduced a standalone’Head Tracking’ so I assume it was a conflict in implementing that. Of course I might be wrong but this is an impossible problem to search for.

Switch Control is not changed in the iOS 26 or iOS 26.2.1 update!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.
