Music and Media account locked with no explanation, no Apple Support recourse.

Well, what happened to Paris Buttfield-Addison happened to me. I have been locked out of my Media and Subscriptions account, which effectively means I cannot purchase apps, make in app purchases, listen to music through Apple Music, or access any of the content I purchased through Apple in the past twenty years (and it is a lot). Worse still, contacting Apple Support has been useless—I escalated the situation to Ashad, who is a Senior Apple Support representative, and he told me he could not escalate it any further within the support team, though he was able to send it to a review team (who undoubtedly will give me the same answer as before). At no point have they given me a reason why my account was locked, and I can't think of anything I did to get the account locked. Their proposed solution was for me to create a new Apple Account, which is an insulting suggestion. I would rather move to Android/Windows if I have to start over.

My question is whether anyone else in this position (and I'm sure there are many) was able to get a satisfactory resolution to this problem. Who could you contact beyond Apple Support?

For what it's worth, I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 26.2, an iPad Pro running iOS 26.2, and a MacBook Pro M1 Max running Sequoia 15.6.1.

Your description of the issue is slightly confusing because having a disabled media and purchases component of an account is fairly common and has an easy resolution that many have found to work. If you see a message saying, “You cannot login because your account has been locked”, or one saying “

If instead you mean your entire account has been permanently locked then no, I have never seen anybody posting here with this issue get an account unlocked. There is nobody else to contact. According to various posts, Apple may permanently lock accounts for other reasons (very broadly outlined in section VII-B of Legal - iCloud - Apple ). That may be the case here if the previous reason does not apply to you. If it isn’t apparent, contact Apple and ask if that is the situation, but don’t expect them to tell you why. You, or somebody who has managed to get access to your account, are likely doing something Apple is interpreting as account misuse. You will have to see if your activities could be construed—rightly or wrongly—as meeting any of Apple's conditions in the legal article. You will need to create a new account and stop doing things the way you have been that may have caused the other account to be locked.

In this situation you may be able to still use your equipment with a new account or even no account at all. Apple can completely reset a device if a person can provide sufficient evidence of valid ownership. Check the requirements and steps at: Activation Lock support request - https://al-support.apple.com/#/additional-support Apple says, "Proof of ownership documentation is required," but does not detail what currently constitutes proof other than it “must include the product serial number, IMEI or MEID.” Apple may typically require the original receipt* issued by Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller. If Apple resets the device this will give you access to the device but won't restore access to the account used to lock it. There is nothing that can be done to expedite an Activation Lock request.
