Lilac-colored Macbook Air Screen

I was streaming something on Netflix, when suddenly my Macbook Air screen turned into a light shade of lilac with a black stripe on the left side. It buffered for a little bit and I thought it was a simple display problem that would go away on its own. However, it came back and I shut down my laptop. It was displaying the apple logo and the login page just fine. But I logged into my account and the screen went back to purple, except this time the black stripe was now light green. Does anyone know what this could be and if I can fix it at home without needing to head to an Apple store?

Off Color After App Usage:


Take a Screenshot:

To confirm that this is a hardware issue, take a screenshot. If seen, then it is an issue with the macOS (in which case, you should create a new user, seeing if it goes away). If not, then it is a hardware error, and you should get this screen replaced. What this occurred? Likely a power surcharge or power spur, or damaged hardware.


If Not Seen in Screenshot, You Need to Get your Mac Serviced...

Contact Apple, and setup a Genius Bar Appointment or see an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) in your local area.


A. Contact Apple Support:


And/Or...


B. Contact an AASP: 

  1. Go Here: Find Locations - Apple Authorized Reseller
  2. Click: Service & Support
  3. Enter: your location information
  4. See: if there is an AASP nearby
  5. Contact: an AASP that shows up, and find out more about the services that they offer to replace the Mac's screen.
