HDMI audio not working with Logic Pro 12

Hello,

I'm a new mac user, and suffered windows for 35 years... so be kind

Problem: I have a New Mac mini Pro4 with LogicPro... My mini is plugged in via HDMI and when I play films, sound from my mini outputs to the TV , however when I start Logic Pro 12, the sound defaults to the internal speaker on my Mini...

I searched YouTube and the Net for solutions and didn't find any helpful ones.

So the question is ? Where on earth in Logic Pro 12 do I select audio Out put.

I checked the project settings and that didn't help.. so I,m lost!

Help please

You need to set the audio device in Logic:

Logic pro > Settings > Audio > Devices > Output Device > ...

There are two distinctive settings, one for the entire app and another only for the current project.

For example Sample Rate is a project setting because this can differ from one to another project, where as the audio device is mostly set in general. However, you can save a project as template to set your custom default project settings.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the tip, I did eventually find the other setting section, I had assumed that projects setting would be the appropriate area, but clearly not.

I have also fed back to Apple to merge the two setting areas, with additional Tabs.. as it got me stuck for a while.

I also created a YouTube short illustrating how to fix HDMI issues like this at my YT channel StudioDoctorDaz

Thanks 🙏 again
