iPhone 17ProMax doesn't receive SMS verification codes?

I just switched back to ATT from a different carrier and got the new iPhone17 ProMax. It doesn't receive SMS verification codes, making it impossible to sign in to banks, credit cards, or even rideshare apps. I've tried every single fix available online and spent hours on the phone with ATT tech support. Nothing has worked. Please help

So are you saying no one can send you an SMS message? Do you use a VPN or ever had VPN software on your device? Just turning off a VPN generally is not enough. The app and profile must be deleted and iPhone network settings reset.


If you’re not using a VPN, it definitely sounds like an AT&T issue. I’ve been on AT&T since 2007 (required for first iPhone) and several times in long past I had similar text issues. Spent 2 hours on phone with support to no avail. Next day walked into AT&T corporate store and issue resolved in 15 minutes. The said the reset my account, whatever that means. But it was fixed.

You'll need to escalate the issue with AT&T, short term codes are sent via SMS, which is their feature.

Your line probably wasn't ported over correctly from your previous carrier.

Assume you ensure that the correct number is being used to receive the SMS.
