iPod sync issue on El Capitan: Forgot Mac login & Apple ID

I have a legacy Mac desktop running El Capitan with a large iTunes library.

I'd like to upload / sync an iPod I have as I recently purchased a collector vehicle with OEM iPod integration.

I can't remember to Mac log-in and the Apple ID is my original single user account. I have the email / username - but have forgotten the password.

When I plug in the iPod - it is recognized and shows the drive is functional.

Anyone have iTunes knowledge - expertise?

My Mac does not recognize my Apple ID password. I can't update apps from the iTunes store I have a Mac from 2019 updated to the most current OS. I can't update apps on this Mac because it does not recognize my Apple ID password. So, I click on "forget password". It asks me to come up with a new password from my iPhone. I do that. I go back on my Mac, and it still does not recognize it.

Forgotten password/different Apple ID I have inaccessible .m4p iTunes music purchased using an old Apple ID, the password to which I have forgotten. To further complicate things, the ID is an email address that is no longer working, so attempts to change the password (which involve getting an email sent to that address) don't work. I do have iTunes Matching, but have been unsuccessful in trying to add the protected songs to my current library. Appreciate any suggestions as to how I can regain access to the music.
