Apple may keep my funds for accidentally cashing out my Apple Cash to my old bank account.

So, I accidentally transferred my Apple Cash balance to my old (closed) bank account. Called apple and they said it’ll take 10 days for them to dispute. Got the funds returned from the bank 5 days later but Apple locked my account. Called and opened another case and they told me to keep checking my wallet for my account to reopen in the 48 hour window. 50 hours later, account still locked, they are changing their story to “we MAY give you your funds back in 90 days”. I am lost…

Apple is not a bank. Green Dot Bank is issuer and servicer of Apple Cash prepaid debit cards. Sending funds to a closed account is a suspicious behavior. Banks follow federal and state banking regulations in regard to closing accounts.

Update: Greendot closed my original dispute and returned access back to my account after opening disputes with BBB, CFPB, FTC, and Federal reserve board. It would seem, my original dispute was all that was really holding up my funds. Not sure why even up to the corporate level they were claiming my account was going to go through an automated review process and they may give me my funds after the 90 day window. Maybe my complaints achieved the goal or maybe they were all telling me bad information? But it’s resolved now…

Yeah it’s odd, dispute is what greendot called it when I called them to report that my funds were sent to my old bank account. Not sure why, but the funds were received back to them and all of the sudden they were saying they would take 90 days to make a decision on whether or not they would return my money to me. But then the “dispute” was closed and my account went restricted meaning I can now cash out but I can’t receive or send any funds. Good riddance I am going to call and have them close my account if possible. They were getting 60 or so dollars a month from me for my instant transfers but never again…
