Sharing Apple Music with grandchildren

I would like to add my grandchildren to my Apple Music family plan. They are on a “location sharing” plan with their dad, who is NOT on an Apple Music plan. When I tried adding him to my account, he received the message. “You can only belong to one family”. Thus he is excluded, as are the children, from accepting my offer. Is that correct?

People can only belong to one Family Sharing group at any one time. Depending upon their age the children would have to leave, or be transferred, to your Family Group so they could share with your plan. Either that or you would have to leave your group (you can take your plan with you) and get a request to join their dad's group so you could share with everybody.

Do not contemplate having people leave and join different groups frequently. That won't work. You can only do it a limited number of times per year.

Yes, as long as you have a family level Apple Music plan.

Also note that should you every leave that group any streaming music and playlists would disappear for the others unless they started their own plan(s) (and to avoid losing playlists they would have to do that before you left). Anything they had actually purchased would remain and they could share with each other. There is a difference be tween purchased music and streaming the entire Apple library.

You all have to be in the same country/region.
