iPhone 15 Pro: New contacts not showing

I'm having a consistent problem where adding a new contact to my iPhone 15 Pro, by multiple methods, won't show the new contact. This happens when I create a new contact by tap/hold on a piece of info (name, phone, address in text or whatever), or if I just manually add a new contact in the Phone app. I'm not syncing from something else or doing anything odd - it's all just the usual built in methods in iOS but fails in the same way, every time.

If I wait while, or even reboot the phone, the new contact still doesn't show up. The only thing that has worked so far is if I add it a 2nd time, and then it will show up as duplicates. I can consolidate the dupes but it's a hassle.
