Overnight battery drain after Tahoe 26.3 upgrade

battery drainage Tahoe 26.3

after I have upgraded to Tahoe 26.3, the battery is getting worse. Every time when I put to sleep, the next morning it was still 100%. But after upgrade, the battery is 90% to 95%. I usually close and quit all the apps before I put to sleep. How to overcome it?

I checked all the recommended settings but my battery went down from 80% to 32% overnight.

Wait, you said it went down 5% overnight, now you say it goes down 48% overnight?

Something is running in the background. If you can't identify it, you can download and run Etrecheck and post its diagnostic report here following instructions in https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211

Someone here may find the culprit form that report.

If you prefer to leave your Mac as is with what is currently installed and running in the background, then simply connect it to a charger overnight instead of leaving it on the battery.

Look at your Login Items, App Background Activity and make some changes(?)

>System Settings>General>Login items

Battery>Options make some changes(?)

The rue of thumb has always been——if you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on the battery only—this is how you help optimize your battery charging and extend the working life of your battery by reducing the cycle count.

For your issue I might try a A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support to sort anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

After any update there is a lot of background processing going on for a couple of days, even during sleep. This almost always means a temporary reduction in battery performance. This happens on every platform, not just Apple.

But if you think you have a problem then take your Mac to an Apple Store or authorized Apple service provider for examination.

i ran the etrecheck and with the help of diagnostic changed few things. Let's see how the battery performs. Thanks for the help :)

If you have resolved the problem, or if the problem remains, it would be helpful for you to post back with what steps you took to "change a few things." As that could help others who experience something similar.
