Why does my phone keep restarting?

Ever since updating to iOS 26, my iphone 14 keeps restarting. Before today, the problem was fixed by updating all the apps, in between restarts. But today, all the apps are updated, and it still keeps restarting. What is happening here?

The first suspect is the battery. After that, it's the power supply section or "motherboard". Will the phone stay on long enough for you to check the battery settings?

Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging

What reading do you see for Maximum Capacity?

It's getting down there, and there may be some other things going on that the user settings cannot read.

Make an appointment at the Apple Store / Genius Bar or take the phone to an authorized Apple service shop to let them check and test the battery.

You can find a list of authorized shops in your area using this link: Find Locations

The tech can also check the power supply board or motherboard to look for an "iffy" component. Hopefully, it is not a board issue, since that is an expensive fix, unless you still have AppleCare+ in effect.

“It really feels like an iOS problem, because it started the day that I updated to iOS 26, stopped once all apps were updated, and then reoccurred with the next iOS update.”

Getting Out of this Boot Loop;

Seems to me it is stuck in a Boot Loop; this typically occurs when you go about performing an update, and it stalls while in the process. Use my User Tip: How to Fix an iPhone in a Boot Loop - User Tip

Lmao, this is amazing. They told me the logic board had to be replaced. They didn't have one, so I had to send phone in to Apple. They sent a loaner phone. So, while the old phone kept restarting, I tried to get the loaner phone cloned to the old one. But it wouldn't work because phone kept restarting. Finally I gave up on that method, and just decided to backup the loaner phone from icloud. But, Apple sent me a phone running iOS 18, so it wouldn't work. So I updated the entire operating system, and then deleted the old phone, and mailed it to Apple. Now, it seems there's no easy way to get this loaner phone to have all of my stuff (that I'm paying a monthly fee to be held in the cloud), photos, apps, settings, whatever.

'Tis a shame, if they never looked into this being a Boot Loop. I don't see why it wouldn't have fixed it.

Next time, back up your info prior to sending it in --particularly to iCloud.
