Can someone please explain in simple English how to find the file path to a document on my mac. Thanks!
Simplest way I know: click the file once in Finder, then hold down the Option key and open the Edit menu at the top. "Copy" changes to "Copy … as Pathname". Click it, and the full path is copied, so you can paste it anywhere with Command-V. It'll look something like /Users/yourname/Documents/letter.docx.
Same thing from the keyboard: select the file and press Option-Command-C.

Okay, I've found the path. I have copied it and pasted it into a document but it's not active. I can't click on it to open the original document.
What's is going on now?

What happened when you added file:/// in front of the path? I've just tested it in LibreOffice and it works fine.
