Is the camera showing a yellow flower icon, when this happens?

Then the camera may have switched automatically to the macro mode. Tap the yellow flower to disable the macro mode, when this happens.

That is right, Richard,

when I first so the question on my iPhone, the screenshot has only been showing the top third of the picture, cropped to landscape. Then everything was blurry.

The full picture is now shown in portrait orientation, with only the upper third blurry.

when I take close-ups with the camera set to the 1x lens and the iPhone decides on its own to switch to macro mode and the ultra wide angle lens, the camera will still pretend to use the 1x lens. When I then tap a spot in the lower part of the display to focus on that spot, the upper part might become slightly blurry. But that is unlikely, if all straight lines are parallel, as you noticed.

But still, turning off macro mode and moving further away usually helps, when parts of the image are blurry.

Also léonie, I had thought that the edges of the paper are so parallel and so even with the edges of the picture frame, that the lens must be no farther from the top than from the bottom. So the top and bottom ought to have the same focus--unless the pictureswas edited, of course. If the picture is unedited, then I can't think of anything that would cause the top to be focused differently from the bottom-- except a hardware problem. I think.
