Every time I open a new window of anything, it opens at full width. I'm 99.9% sure windows used to open at the same width as they were previously opened. Did something change, and/or is there a way to bring back the way windows open?

Hold down the Ctrl key to close the current window, and the system will remember the new window size; alternatively, you can manually resize the window and then hold down the Shift key to close it and save the settings. You can choose either method.
Same here, I have macbook air M3 and had it on two screen setup and did not notice it much, then changed to Mac Mini with 49 curved screen and boom, every new window opens in full mode. have gont through all suggested settings and nothing helps, extremely annoying to resize every new app. If new tabs open lets say within browser it retains screen size, but new windows are the ones causing issues.
Apple pls fix it.
