Um, why?

Apple doesn’t usually require post-installation steps.

Generally, I’d leave macOS running to re-index stuff and such, absent some local requirement to restart or shutdown, or some specific instructions from Apple. (And I haven’t seen post-install instructions since macOS Server days.)

I would recommend it if you are experiencing glitches or issue in the new macOS.

Certainly is not going to hurt anything !

>Shut down

Then boot up and compare your results.

A lot of anomalies seem to magically disappear with a simple restart as well...we see this over and over in these communities— followed by "why didn't I think of that !"

Otherwise I would simply close the lid and let the Mac sleep until you lift the lid to go to work.

The rule of thumb — "if it ain't broke don't fix it."
