Icloud account blocked out, how to remove

Please help me with my Ipad pro 10.5'' Model A1709. The ipad originally was purchased by my Mother in Laws work who bought it in 2017 but did not use it much. Fast forward to 2020 the ipad became redundant for the company and it was sold off to my mother in law as redundant goods. She then gave us the ipad for our kids to play on. We created an icloud account and logged in and all was fine for a couple of months until our youngest daughter put the password in, incorrectly one too many times and now when we try and log into the ipad the account shows that the account is locked. It is impossible to reset the password. We have called apple and they will not assist with this unless I can produce the original proof of purchase from the store that it was purchased from. The company cannot provide these details due to how long ago the purchase took place. Please can you advise how I can at least remove the icloud account so that I can load another account to be able to download and update the software on the ipad.

Refer to: https://support.apple.com/108934 Without the original receipt, resetting the password would be the only possibility of removing that lock. "It is impossible to reset the password" unfortunately doesn't really tell us much about where you are encountering difficulties doing this.

On a computer with the Passwords application, you can see your current Apple Account password ( https://discussions.apple.com/thread/256223413 ).

If you are signed into this forum using the same Apple Account then your browser may be configured to automatically enter your password. You should be able to view stored passwords in your browser's preferences/settings.

This Apple article has instructions for what to do if you have forgotten your Apple account password, or the system does not recognize the one you remember —> https://support.apple.com/HT201487 or go directly to this link —> http://iforgot.apple.com/

If you find you can’t sign in, reset your password, or receive verification codes, you can request account recovery (get Apple’s own instructions in this article: https://support.apple.com/118574 ) to regain access to your account. Account recovery might take a few days or longer, depending on the specific account information you can provide to verify your identity. One tip to using account recovery is to look for options in small blue letters beneath the normal log-in items if you cannot complete the requested information.
