MacBook charges Gusto 3, cannot transfer photos

I have a old flip phone that I am trying to get photos off of. The issue im having is that everytime I plug the adapter cord into my macbook, the mac just starts to charge the phone. The phone is a Verizon Wireless Samsung Gusto 3 flip phone.

Check that the cable you are using is one that can transmit data. Some cables only have 5V power pins connected, which makes them good for charging low-power devices, but nothing else.


Also check the settings on the device to make sure that it allows USB connections. There is a security setting (see page 115 of the user manual) where it will not allow USB connections.

Page 75 indicates that the phone can share some photos via Bluetooth, so I don't know if that might be an option.
