Having an issue watching certain things on Apple TV. Netflix will seemingly play trailers when you’re browsing but won’t play a show. Amazon Prime similarly will play the ads before the programme but can’t play the programme. If I access Netflix elsewhere (Smart TV) works fine. I’ve reset the box to factory settings but nothing seems to help.

Go to the App Store on your TV and download the app “Speedtest”. Run it and report what the results are. This is sounding more and more like a network problem.
Did you try deleting the apps and reinstalling? Or they might need updating.
Check the HDMI cables are securely connected and troubleshoot your internet connection. If on wifi, reboot the router.
Well it’s not an Apple TV problem. I’m running tvOS 26.3 on my 4K Apple TV and both Netflix and Amazon Prime content is playing very well, thank you.

No, no VPN or Firewall. No changes made it just started to throw up errors on Netflix, Prime - played BBC iPlayer content last night OK, just can't watch Alex Cross on Prime and October Faction on Netflix. Watched film on Disney+...its just random.
Yeah I’ve wiped the entire box and had to reinstall all the apps
Yep done that already, box is getting 400 to 500 Mbps.
