Unable to sign in to 3rd gen Apple TV with Apple ID and 2FA

I can't use airplay on my 3rd gen apple tv which I'm not sure is related to this problem, but that is the only reason I have the device. I've been trying to login with my apple ID for the past hour and I HAVE USED the append method with the 2fa code multiple times. This thing just doesn't want me to log in. My network is fine and I've attempted the "Update Software" button but of course that doesn't work either. I have cold booted, restarted, reset, everything bro. Why is this happening to me

The 3rd gen doesn't support the modern version of iCloud and that can often be associated with login issues. It also doesn't support airplay 2 and that can also cause issues with compatibility when attempting to cast.

The model was originally released in 2012 and is no longer supported (last update was in 2021 and it was classified as obsolete within the next year). Buying a used 4th gen would be the best course of action.
