Unable to add specific bank card to Apple Pay on iPhone

Got the iPhone 17 pro max as an upgrade to my 14 plus.

I cannot add my bank card no matter how I try- directly through wallet or via banking app. Another card with same provider went on fine, as did another card from a different bank.

I’ve used this card on Apple Pay before. It’s currently working on my watch.

phone software and banking app all up to date.

The bank have said there is nothing at their end which would stop me adding to Apple Pay.

I called Apple support who were not helpful at all! They gave me a phone number for Visa, which just put me straight back through to my bank.

Anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve?

Have you tried a single card more than 5 times in 24 hour period? If so, you’ll need to wait several days before trying again. There is an automatic anti-fraud system that blocks a card after 5 attempts. The system will automatically reset in a few days.
