syncing music, iphone->Mac. "Sync Library" option not availalbe.

Hi all.

iphone SE latest version, latest os.

In iphone Settings:Apps:Music, there's no Sync Library option available.

Have tried signing out then in for Media & Purchases in Settings:Account. No luck?

Ideas how I can get Sync Library to appear in Settings?

Do I need to subscribe to Apple Music, maybe, to share my music between phone and Mac?

Thanks,

Steve

"Sync Library" requires a subscription to Apple Music or iTunes Match.

Use Sync Library with your Apple Music subscription – Apple Support

If you are not a subscriber – or if you choose to keep "Sync Library" turned off (as I do), you can synchronize music from your Mac or Windows PC to your iPhone.

Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer – Apple Support

Note that – with the possible exception of music purchased from the iTunes Store – this does not allow you to copy music from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod back to a computer. The model is that the master library resides on a computer and that the iPhone, iPad, or iPod can only contain a selection of music from one computer at a time.

In the special case of music purchased from the iTunes Store, you can redownload that on your other devices – assuming that it is still available in the iTunes Store – without doing a synchronization.

However, since I am synchronizing my iPhone's Music library with a selection from the one on my Mac, I just load music that way, whether it comes from the iTunes Store or from my CDs.
