App Store asks for email password instead of Apple ID

The App Store is asking me for a password to my email address in order to download an App, instead of asking for my Apple ID. It is of course not working. Any help will be appreciated.

Your Apple ID is nothing more than an email address, so if it is asking for one that is different then your main account, check at Settings > [name on top] > Media & Purchases. That is the Apple Account (email address) used for making purchases.

If you are attempting to update an app that had been previously downloaded with a different Apple Account, then you need to provide the password to that Apple Account because that is the one the app is linked too.
