replace my iPod Classic Battery someone please...

I have an iPod classic 160 GB (late 2009 -ish), which works perfectly. however the battery now does not hold charge.

apple say on their website that battery replacement is possible through their service system, but both authorised centres I have approached near me, say it is not possible. also several non apple repair shops also say not possible..

I am pretty sure that the batteries can still be bought, but replacement is difficult or so I'm told.

any one have any suggestions?

thanks

Re: Apple Service and Repair for iPod : any one have any suggestions?

Three suggestions:

(1) Make a reservation at a Genius Bar in an Apple Store, (See: Genius Bar)

Take the iPod, proof of ownership if possible (eg: receipt), and some ID to the appointment. (Else: If needed: Apple Support phone numbers around the world)

(2) If that doesn't suit: Check with the experts:

See: Apple Service and Repair for iPod :

https://support.apple.com/ipod/repair?services=service

Eg: says:

"We’re here to help.

To get started, tell us what's going on with your iPod.

We’ll show you solutions you can try, or help you arrange a repair or replacement."

(Eg: If need be.You can likely arrange to post it in)

If you wish: You can click get an estimate, and then click the "Get started" button

(3) If all else fails: Could you do a Self Service Repair - Apple Support

Plus: There are many third-party videos on YouTube offering a solution.

NB: Have no idea how reliable any of these may be. Your own risk.
