How to stop airpods auto switching with windows PC/non apple devices

When I switch on Bluetooth on my Windows PC (with which the airpods are also paired), the Airpods connect automatically and unnecessarily with the PC, even if they are currently connected to my iPhone and currently playing music.

This is really annoying. How do I stop this?

Stopping AirPods from Pairing to PC Automatically:

If your AirPods connect to a non-Apple device (a Windows, in this case), remove them from that device’s Bluetooth list to prevent automatic reconnection.  So, remove these, or turn off Bluetooth.

How to Remove these:

  1. Right-Click: on the Windows menu (icon on the Taskbar), and then remove the AirPods:
  2. Select: Device Manager
  3. Click: View
  4. Select: Show hidden devices
  5. Expand: Bluetooth
  6. Find: [these AirPods]
  7. Right-Click: on [these AirPods]
  8. Select: Uninstall
  9. Restart your PC
