Using on-demand with Apple TV

I've never used Apple TV but I will be subscribing this week. My question is, how do I access on-demand? I don't see a link anywhere on the app showing on-demand. If I want to watch a sporting event when I want to watch it and not when it is actually being shown live, how do I do that? Being I've never used that feature before regardless, can someone please help and explain. Appreciate any help, thank you.

That will depend on the sporting event.

If you subscribe to MLS, past games will be available to watch on-demand in the MLS section. You just need to find the game, click on it to open its details and select "Full Replay" to watch the full game once its over. There is no dedicated "on-demand" section if that is what you are looking for.

Same applies to the upcoming season of F1 racing. Once the races are over, the complete stream will be available to watch in the F1 hub section. You just need to look for the race you want there.

Other sports not streamed by Apple through Apple TV would not be available there, would require their own app and subscription to access past events.

Apple TV is a streaming service for original programming. Within the Apple TV app there will be a tab that says Apple TV, where you can access content for the service. For sports there is a separate subscription through Apple for MLS, which also includes a tab to access that content. Apart from that there are also Apple TV channels (some of which will be for sports) that are 3rd party subscriptions that are hosted in the app. Once subscribed they will also appear as a tab to navigate to specific content quickly.

Hello Phil0124 and vazandrew, thank you for your replies.
So, while I don't see a on-demand tab right now on the Apple TV app. I will once I access that sporting event?

As I said, no. You won't see an "on-demand" tab at all. You just need to find the relevant event and it should have a Playback option .

Also, I wanted to watch a event that occurred yesterday at 22:30 my time, PST a F1 event called warm up. But, when I access that event I get a message that says "this content is no longer available"? So while the event did happen yesterday it seems I can't access it? I see no way to see a link for on-demand for that event. So, what am I doing wrong or what is happening? Can you help and explain?

Not sure there was an event yesterday. Warmup is tomorrow at 12:30 AM Central US or around 5PM Melbourne.

I see there are upcoming F1 qualifying events for Thur 17:10, Thur 20:40 and Fri 17:10. Those events are suppose to be subscription free events while the qualifying and race events are subscription fee base. So how do I watch those F1 practice events when I want to view them?

In theory, once they have happened the videos should be available for playback in the same location they are now. Just find the Race event and the previous sessions should be there for playback.

I fully understand I will have to subscribe, (which I will), to see the F1 qualifying and race. But it seems I can't view the practice sessions, which I'm suppose to be able to do according to Apple TV.

The previous practice sessions appear to not be available. I can't even find them anymore.

Also, many of the bonus videos are also unplayable for me.

Hi Phil0124,

I made a mistake. The event I was referring to is TONIGHT, Wed. 4 @22:30 my time (PST) not yesterday. So that answers a question why I couldn't see it this morning! I will see what happens tonight?

You said, "In theory, once they have happened the videos should be available for

playback in the same location they are now. Just find the Race event

and the previous sessions should be there for playback." Good. I presume there will be a specific "playback" option I can see instead of on-demand link as you stated.

And, as you suggest, I can view that event when I want to. Sounds good. As you can maybe see, the race events happen at not a good viewing times for me and therefore need to watch them at a more reasonable time. If everything goes according to plan I should see the first F1 event tonight @22:30 PST. And then the following events from Australia later this week.

Certainly appreciate your help and assistance, Phil0124.
