Apple Music: Transferring CD music from old iPod to new?

Years ago I downloaded all my music that I bought on CDs to iTunes and from there to an iPod. Now I want to transfer the library from the old iPod to a newer Touch iPod and am wondering if I will loose all the music I bought years ago (although not bought via iTunes) if I cancel the Apple Music subscription, which I don't need anyway as all I want is being able to still listen to my old music.

The first thing to check is to see whether your purchased music is still on your computer. You can use Windows Explorer (on a Windows PC obviously) to look through the Music folder for the sub-folders for artists and in turn sub-folders for each album. If the music is missing, and you have no backup of your own, you will have to go to the source that you purchased the music from in order to download the tracks again.

If your purchased music is all on your computer, cancelling your Apple Music subscription will not affect that purchased music. Don't forget, any music that you've been listening to through your Apple Music subscription is from that source, not from your own scopies.
