FCP: Prevent stabilization reprocessing after cuts

I would do it the way terryb suggests, but if you want to keep working the way you are doing now, then once you have applied the denoise and stabilization (and the effects have rendered), export that as a stand-alone file - which will bake in the effects.

Once exported, import that file you just exported and create a new project from it and trim and cut as you wish.

Have you considered editing first then denoising and stabilizing only the shots and scenes actually used?

No, a snapshot would not help in this instance. You would have a separate copy of the same project and cutting that would cause the same issue you had in the original.

To ensure the utmost quality choose export file and under settings choose ProRes. It produces a huge file, though. It’s very likely that you could do it using H264 or HEVC and not be able to notice much difference (and produce a much much smaller file).

Actually, if the original is 8mm film, H.264 is fine, you'll never notice any image quality difference at all.
