Download music to iPhone from non-Apple sources

how do i download music to my phone without an apple music subscription? Specifically not from iTunes, like from Bandcamp, or an album sent in an email?

On Bandcamp,. there should be a download option for each track, you can click on that and it should download it to the Files App's Downloads folder. It may download as a Zip file. Tapping on it will expand it into a folder with the music file inside.


For emailed tracks you should be able to tap on the download icon on the attachment, and select a location in the Files app.


In either of the two cases, you cannot then add the music to the default Apple Music app, if that is the specific issue you are encountering.

You can download a 3rd party music player like VLC and add them to its library though.
